Want to contribute to the Neurodiversity Network Blog?

We’ve launched a blog to give our members a space to share experiences and perspectives. We also want to give you an opportunity to develop your voice as a writer and build your writing skills.

You don’t need any previous publication experience and we’ll give you editorial support to help make your work shine.

What can I write about?

We’re interested in writing that explores any issues related to work from a neurodivergent perspective. Here’s some topic ideas to get you started:
• Communicating your neurodivergence to colleagues and managers
• How you’ve built on your strengths and found your niche in the workforce
• Seeking accommodations in the workplace – challenges and successes
• What an inclusive workplace means to you
• Finding a neurodivergent support network within your workplace or industry
• Your career journey including study and time out
• Alternative pathways including self-employment and volunteer work
• Combining work with family and other commitments
• Your experience of burnout and any insights into managing, recovering and prevention.

Are there any rules?

• Neurodivergent brains think differently and this shapes the way we write. For this reason, we don’t want to be too prescriptive about structure or style. We welcome writing that is non-linear, makes unexpected connections between ideas and plays with conventions.
• We recognise that grammar and spelling isn’t everyone’s strong suit and we’ll trust you’ve given us your best work.
• Language should reflect a neuro-affirmative approach but don’t stress about whether you’ve got it right as we’ll check it as part of the editing process.
• Be authentic! You are the expert on your experience and we want to hear about it.

How do I submit a story?

Just email a draft of your story either as an attachment or pasted in the body of an email to neurodiversitynetworkgblog@gmail.com and we’ll do the rest.

We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
